best time to exercise
I was a person that would workout when I had the time during the day so my workout time frame was very sporadic. I get a lot of questions on the topic of when is the best time to exercise? or when to workout so I thought I would take the time to help many of you who often wonder, should I be working out in the morning, in the afternoon or in the evening.
Morning workout and working out at night has its pros and it has its cons. Me personally, I would love the days where I could get up early enough to knock out a good ol’ p90x or insanity workout. Even though I would have to workout on an empty stomach, after working out in the morning I would feel great. Knowing that i already got my workout out of the way for the day and to know that I would be able to get off a long day of work and just relax a little bit was awesome. Working out on an empty stomach has had a lot of back and forth reviews. Some researchers have found that working out on an empty stomach could speed the process of your weight loss, because when your body goes to retrieve the energy to fuel yourself to power through the workouts, your body will burn fat twice as fast since you will have no calories in your tank for your body to retrieve from.
there is always two sides to every story though! lol on the other hand a lot of weight lifters and a lot of studies show that working out on an empty stomach could hurt your goals and may not be the best time to workout. When you raise your heart rate up to the point where your body starts to burn energy fast, its main resources are the calories that you have put into your body. Since you will be working out on an empty stomach they say doing so will results in muscle loss, and your body wont have the necessary fuels to power through a workout such as p90x or insanity. Like i said, i myself love working out in the morning.
I would normally wake up in the morning around 4am, take a scoop of whey protein, and have a bottle of water with a little bit of the p90x results and recovery formula in it to just help give me that pump that i need. Personally I have heard of way more success stories coming from ones who start their day off with a good workout. When doing so its done and out of the way and you can focus your energy on other things that you may have to get done. One excuse that I always here from people that dont work out in the morning are that I was planning to workout but Something came up. Not saying that something didnt come up but that just shows one of the many benefits of morning workouts.
Now there isnt anything wrong with working out in the afternoon or the evening. Its really all about the motivation you have to succeed with whichever program you are doing rather then the best time to workout. I came across a lot of excuses with myself when I would wait until the afternoon to get it done. I would come home and sit down after a long day of work and all my energy would simply flow into my couch and it was just hard as ever to get back up and push play. I try to do as many workouts in the morning as possible so I can be successful for the rest of my day. If you can find the energy to bring it and give it your all after work or right before you go to bed, by all means just do it! but if you find yourself putting off your workouts because something “comes up” then set that alarm clock an hour earlier than you would normally wake up and give it your all. Since I have done both morning workouts and evening to tell you the truth, I didnt really see a difference in my results. As long as you get your workout in for that day then that is ALL that matters. Keep Bringing it friends!
